I decided to go up Cader Idris hoping the weather was going to be great to capture this wonderful mountain range. Unfortunately, the light and weather were both a little on the flat side. Still, as I was going anyway, I decided to take a few photo's. At least it wasn't to hazy even if the light wasn't great  :) Here are the ones I liked best from the trip to the top of Cader Idris. All photographs taken using a Nikon D90 and Nikon 16-85mm VR lens.

Decided to go to Llwyngwril beach with Alwyn Jones to try and get some sunsets. The sun looked half decent and I really thought it was going to produce some stunning colours but to be honest, it fell a bit flat. I've done some work to a couple of the shots to produce some strong bold colourful images. Here are a few of the captures that I liked the most. Taken with the Nikon D90 and 18-55mm VR kit lens.

Got my two rolls of Kodak Ektar developed by DS Colour Labs in Manchester. I'm really pleased with the outcome of the negatives. They also burn a copy of the scanned negatives to a cd where there isn't any charge for this process at present. I find the home scans on an old Epson 4490 is producing much more natural colours and retaining better detail in the sky.  Here are my favorite selection of photo's from the two rolls of Kodak Ektar. Both rolls of film were shot using my Nikon F100. I just find there is something still magical about photography when using film :)

21 July 2011

Got my 3 rolls of film back developed and decided to scan in the roll of Ilford Pan F 50 film using my old Epson 4490 Scanner. I would love to get a designated scanner but for the amount of film I shoot it's not worth it. In the near future though I will look into purchasing either a Canon 9900f or Epson V700 scanner. This old 4490 didn't do bad a job though to be fair considering it's approximately 4-5 years old. Here are some of my favorite scans. All photo's taken using a Nikon F100 along with a Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens. I still have an affinity to film photography and I am  as yet still unable to find an action or reproduce the look and feel of film black and white images with a digital camera :)

16 July 2011

I had to take my daughter to rehearsals for the English Youth Ballet at Shrewsbury so decided to take my camera along as I had to wait for 6 hours for her before rehearsals were finished.  Unfortunately, I don't know Shrewsbury that well so I've probably missed a lot of the interesting places to photograph. Most of the candid's were taken using my Tamron 70-300mm DI Macro lens and makes me realise how much I really want a more expensive/faster lens for this type of photograph. Still, for am £89 lens it did OK :) Anyway, here are some of my favorite photographs from the day.  I also shot a roll of Kodak Ektar on my Nikon F100 but will have to wait to get those developed.
